New online tool OTTER supports primary school pupils in preparing for VERA3-CBT
According to feedback from schools, using the on-screen keyboard is a challenge for many primary school pupils - especially when they take part in computer-based tests such as VERA3-CBT for the first time. This is exactly where the free online tool OTTER comes in.
In just one lesson, children learn the basic functions of the on-screen keyboard with clear explanations and guided exercises. Together with the mascot Otto Otter, they discover upper and lower case letters, umlauts, punctuation marks, how to delete text and other important functions.
Self-directed learning with immediate feedback
OTTER enables interactive and self-directed learning by giving the children constant feedback during the exercises. A special teacher view allows teachers to keep an eye on the progress and typing speed of their class at all times.
Advantages at a glance:
✅ Voluntary preparation for VERA3-CBT - ideal shortly before the test
✅ Easy access: Access data in the VERA portal under the access codes
✅ Demo access via a teacher access code
✅ No installation necessary - start directly in the browser
✅ Soundless - no headphones required
The tool is available now - try it out with your class and make it easier for your students to get started with computer-based testing!
VERA3-CBT is set to be used in more and more schools in the future. The online tool OTTER offers a low-threshold way to prepare - especially for primary school pupils who have little experience in using tablets. OTTER will be available to all schools in some federal states as early as the VERA3 round in 2025.
