Computer-based testing (CBT)

Since 2017, we have been offering computer-based testing (= CBT, also known as technology-based assessment = TBA) for the comparative tests in the eighth grade(VERA8) in the language subjects and, since 2024, also in mathematics . Here, the tasks are no longer completed by the pupils on paper, but are instead solved on the school computer or tablet.

This form of testing has considerable advantages for teachers:

- the preparation of the comparative tests is reduced to instructing the students in the test interface.
- a large proportion of the test tasks are evaluated automatically - only open questions have to be evaluated by the teachers.
- the evaluation takes place directly in the CBT portal, so that manual entry of the test solutions is no longer necessary.

These advantages, among others, considerably reduce the time required for implementation and evaluation in most cases - leaving more time for working with the results.

Computer-based testingdoes not require extensive precautions or prior knowledge, provided that all students in a learning group have access to a computer with a current version of a common Internet browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge).

If you are interested in computer-based testing and your federal state offers the option of online-based VERA8 implementation, you will receive further information on registration, implementation and procedure in your implementation guide. Of course, you can still opt for a conventional, paper-based test.

📺You can find ourvideo tutorials in the VERA8 portal.

The VERA team wishes you a successful VERA8 round.
