Occurrence and spread of computer game addiction among young people

Based on everyday observations, computer game addiction appears to be growing rapidly. However, a closer look at previous findings shows that there is more conjecture than fact about the subject matter, although computer games are increasingly becoming an intensive leisure activity for children, teenagers, young adults and some older people.

It is therefore understandable that the media generally report on a new form of addiction - computer game addiction. And the inquiries from worried parents to doctors and advice centers show that there is indeed a serious problem with computer games. But in what ways do excessive computer gamers differ from players who only play a round on the computer "now and then" for entertainment and recreation?

To find out, zepf conducted a nationwide online survey in 2008 and 2009. The results are recorded in two online publications.
