Evaluation of the “Family Consultation Hour” project of the city of Münster

The task of zepf is to provide scientific support for the city of Münster’s project “Family consultation hours in psychiatric clinics – reaching children and young people as relatives at an early stage and providing long-term support.”
The project is carried out by the Office for Health, Veterinary and Food Affairs of the City of Münster and is funded by the NRW state initiative “Strong Souls” of the Ministry of Health, Emancipation, Care and Ageing (MGEPA).
The project aims to promote the healthy upbringing of children of mentally ill or addicted parents and improve the quality of life of the affected families. The "family consultation hour" is intended to help ensure that severely burdened families with mentally ill or addicted parents in complex emergencies are reached early and connected to support services. One focus is on comprehensive counseling regarding resource-oriented support options for affected children and young people. Relying on existing cooperation structures in Münster enables referral to tailored and effective services. Integration into municipal prevention and support chains ensures sustainability.
The project began on October 1, 2016, and will run for 2.5 years. It is being conducted as a pilot project at the LWL Clinic in Münster.
