OTTER - On a treasure hunt with around 100,000 pupils
Over the past few weeks, primary school pupils from Rhineland-Palatinate, Bremen, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia have been using our OTTER tool tool. A total of around 100,000 pupils from 4,800 classes in 1,900 schools. The tool was available to pupils in preparation for the VERA3 test. Together with Otto and Nami Otter, they practiced using upper and lower case letters, punctuation and special characters as well as numbers and mathematical operators in a fun way.
We are delighted with the huge turnout. Special thanks go to the many teachers who sent us feedback and suggestions for improvement. Both show how great the need is for keyboard training in elementary school.
We are currently looking into options that would allow the OTTER tool to be activated earlier and thus provide more time for practicing, for example, for the VERA3 print requirement assessment. The OTTER access codes that have already been generated can still be used by pupils and teachers until the start of the summer vacations.
We would like to thank all pupils and teachers who have used, tested and contributed their ideas to OTTER!
